There seems to be two flip phones with 5G I found:
I think the Sonim XP3plus 5G is based on AOSP, could be fine, or not. Maybe if you can put a different ROM on it.
The TCL uses KaiOS.
Both can only be bought from carriers, so won’t work for me. Unless it can be unlocked somehow, before T-Mobile will unlock it. I don’t want to pay for their plan and wait for $100 spent, or a year to unlock it, that’s a load of shit. I’d pay full price all at once too.
Both have eSIM.
Would be an option, if I could get an unlocked one. Since the carriers are dicks, I probably won’t bother. I don’t want to switch to T-Mobile Connect. Ultra Mobile works fine for me. Yes, basically the same thing, both owned by T-Mobile, but I’m incredibly lazy.
Neither have a keyboard, so I probably wouldn’t reply to texts with either. Too lazy to relearn how to type with the number pad fast.
Well, you could get both with a connect plan. But you’d be stuck with that service until the asshats unlock it.
I’d rather have the TCL, cheaper, and no Android. Not a fan of Google, or Apple. No idea if KaiOS is any better, maybe they collect a shit ton of data on you too.
But if T-Mobile has a Connect plan with no data, just don’t use data or WiFi. If you have a cell signal, you can make calls and texts.
Nope, no talk and text only plan, on Prepaid or Connect. Dicks.
I don’t care if I use the internet on my phone anymore. Everybody just wants my info anyways.
Metro has the TCL too, but no talk & text only plan, cheapest plan is $25 per month, for a fucking feature phone. No thanks.
Maybe there’s a way to unlock it on wiki.bananahackers.net.
Looks like adb works on the TCL.
Jailbreak doesn’t say it works on KaiOS 4.0, and I assume the TCL Flip 4 is the 5G one. They both use KaiOS 4.0.
AsteroidOS flashed, and backup made.
You probably don’t want the Sonim XP3plus 5G, apparently no developer options.
